First Products Introduces FirstFitTM Framework: A Co-Design
Approach to Custom Healthcare Technology Infrastructure
Methodology built on a simple principle: “The perfect fit. Built for you. With you.”
LOCKPORT, N.Y. –– FEBRUARY 6, 2026 –– First Products, a U.S.-based manufacturer of custom mobile medical carts and technology mounting solutions, today announced the launch of its FirstFit Framework, a four-phase methodology designed to help healthcare organizations move from concept to deployment with greater speed, collaboration, and real-world readiness. The framework addresses the mounting pressures that many healthcare organizations, IT integrators, and medical device OEMs face to deploy breaking technology faster without sacrificing usability, safety, or compliance.
The FirstFit Framework formalizes a workflow-first, partnership-driven approach that brings healthcare stakeholders into the design process earlier and more intentionally. This collaborative process, often in real-time, reduces deployment timelines by an average of 40% compared to traditional custom manufacturing.
"Healthcare IT teams are being asked to do more, faster, with fewer resources," said Paul
Smith, CEO of First Products. "FirstFit is about changing the experience of custom manufacturing. Solutions that are built with teams, not just for them, are better equipped to face the realities of clinical environments."
A Framework Built Around Real Workflows
The FirstFit Framework is structured around four phases:
- Discover: Understanding workflows, environments, and technology ecosystems through
stakeholder alignment and UX mapping - Design: Collaborative, real-time CODESIGNLIVETM sessions focused on ergonomics,
usability, and rapid prototyping - Develop: U.S.-based ISO 9001:2015 certified manufacturing with pilot testing in real
clinical settings - Deploy: Coordinated logistics, technology integration, staff training, and long-term
partnership support
When solutions are designed around how clinicians actually work, healthcare organizations see faster deployments, fewer revisions, and better adoption across care teams. U.S.-based manufacturing helps support that speed and consistency by keeping development, prototyping, and production closely aligned.
Proven Results: 750 Carts Deployed in 4 Months
In a recent deployment using the FirstFit Framework approach, First Products partnered with a university-based Health Resource Initiative to deploy 750 custom telehealth carts to rural K-12 schools across 1,000+ miles. Working with the client deadlines, the project was completed, end-to-end, in four months, a timeline that would have previously required 12-18 months using traditional manufacturing processes. The height-adjustable carts, designed to accommodate users from pre-K students through adults, included secure tablet mounting, integrated diagnostic tool storage, and mobility features for diverse floor surfaces. Weekly coordination calls and 30-minute delivery windows ensured seamless deployment across 750+ locations with zero missed timelines. "This project exemplifies what's possible when collaboration, precision, and workflow-centered design come together," said Kim Marone, Vice President of Business Development at First
Products. "We didn't just deliver carts, we delivered on our client's mission to bring healthcare access to underserved communities."
Bringing the Framework to Life at VIVE and HIMSS
First Products will showcase the FirstFit Framework at ViVE (Booth #1736, February 22-25, Los Angeles) and HIMSS (Booth #2222, March 9-12, Las Vegas). Healthcare leaders can experience the methodology live through CODESIGNLIVETM sessions, collaborating directly with the First Products' design team to sketch and refine solutions in real time.
"We're seeing growing demand for more transparency and collaboration in healthcare infrastructure design," said Smith. "Our FirstFit Framework gives teams a clearer path from idea to deployment and a better experience along the way."
